Such a loaded question. How many times have you gone from office to office trying to find someone with a halfway reasonable lunch idea - preferably, someone already committed to going out and getting said lunch, or at the very least someone who can be talked into fetching it by cashing in a favor, bribery, blackmail or any other marginally effective means. Seems like a daily event in our offices. Fortunately, both of our offices are located near some quality dining establishments, so nobody really ever goes hungry for too long. Here are a few of the always reliable favorites. If you’re in the
Omaha area, make it a task on your list to check one of these local places out:
- PepperJax Arguably the best philly cheesesteak in Omaha. Make sure you order it “fireballed”
- Shucks Attached to a fresh fish market (yes, planes fly to Nebraska daily), this place has the best oysters and fish ‘n’ chips we can find.
- Bailey’s Ironically, owned by the same crew as Shucks. The Reuben is nothing short of amazing. (did you know the Reuben was invented in Omaha?)
- McKenna’s Blues, Booze and BBQ Friday take out: Softshell Spider Sandwich and a cup of gumbo – delightful
- Stokes Bar and Grill Sharon’s chicken enchiladas – impressive and only about 1600 calories (we think)
Of course, there are many more Jelecos team favorites. Food is always a central topic of conversation. We just completed the first round of
the biggest loser – I knew it was over because there were extra cheeseburgers on the “community food” table this week. If you have any tried-and-true methods of conning your colleagues into running out for lunch, please let us know…we’re running low.
